8 Filmmaking Blogs You Should Be Bookmarking Today

It seems there's been an explosion of new sources of filmmaking help sites in recent years.

To help you filter through the clutter, we've put together a list of 8 of our favourite sites for all kinds of film and video info. Here is the list below.

1. No Film School

No Film School (founded by Ryan Koo) is arguably the most comprehensive news resources out there for filmmakers and video producers. Their site is loaded with fresh articles daily, covering everything from industry news, film gear and hollywood production techniques. They also do an amazing job covering the annual NAB Show in Vegas.

2. Philip Bloom

Philip Bloom is an insanely talented cinematographer who has a genuine interest in sharing his knowledge with the world. A humble guy with a dry (but hilarious) sense of humour, Philip somehow juggles a seemingly busy shooting schedule with writing (filming) in-depth reviews about the latest filmmaking tech. Be sure to check him out on Vimeo, Facebook and Instagram too.

3. Filmmaker IQ

Filmmaker IQ has more of a focus on the filmmaking craft with topics covering the history behind cinematic techniques. They also publish "courses" that cover a variety of topics thoroughly.

4. Premium Beat

Premium Beat (titled The Beat) is another great resource that brings you lots of technical advice on the best practices in cinematography, editing and VFX.

5. Cinema5D

Cinema5D is one of our favourite filmmaking blogs out there. This site pumps out daily articles covering everything from industry news to video equipment and post-production techniques. 6. Lights Film School
